One day in Arizona, I met a WWII veteran who had flown missions as a tail-gunner in the B-17. As I listened to the events he relayed, like notching a line in a bottle in London for his return or marching away from the Stalag, I felt history come to life. Suddenly there was a 90-year-young man in front of me sharing stories that helped me realize: stories like this should be preserved and shared.

1) HOTEL POLARIS at the US AIR FORCE ACADEMY

Images from my time filming at the US Air Force Academy are featured throughout the beautiful new Hotel Polaris near the North Gate in Colorado Springs, CO. 

The thing that made this special to me was the opportunity to return after 22 years away to experience everything again through the eye of the camera lens. The sights and sounds were familiar, as well as the spirit of the cadet wing which always remains hopeful. The purpose of the film work was to bring the experience of being a cadet at USAFA to the visitor center for visitors and guests. Instead, the footage has been adapted, in part, for an experiential walk through which comes to life at the new Hosmer Visitor Center opening in 2026. 

I hope the visual experience at Hotel Polaris helps bring to life the excitement and opportunity that being a USAFA cadet embodies. It's a glimpse into the four years that turn a cadet into an officer and hopefully a leader.        

2) FRIDAY PILOTS

Thanks to the Friday Pilots of Tucson, AZ and the Distinguished Flying Cross Society, especially Gen Donald Shepperd and Col Bruce Huffman, I have 23 incredible interviews with some of the most iconic pilots of our time. From B-29s to F-100s and even Apollo, these stories will inspire and shed light on the dawn of the jet age. The full length interviews are being posted online, and donations are appreciated as I bring the best together into a single filmed entitled: PILOT.
